Hiya,
Just finished a new article for you. It takes a look at evaluating your website from your customers perspective.
If your customer has to fight with your site to get at the answers or to make a purchase, chances are they will hit the emergency “Back” button and look elsewhere.
So as you are putting together your site plan, step back and ask yourself if this helps your customer reach their desired result.
Better yet, ask them!

Question: It seems like a lot of bloggers actually blog to help drive traffic to their website. If that is the case, why do they not use they domain name as their blogger name? Are there downsides to using your domain name as your blogger identity?

Well, my first thought is that blogging is about community. And when people “know, like, and trust” you, they are more likely to follow you and see what other value you might provide. Thus visit your website.
When I see domain name as a user name my first impression is that someone is hiding something, and/or they are just there for personal gain. And if I don’t like someone I tend to skip over their posts.
Now, let’s look at it from a community point of view. You use a standard user name, doesn’t have to be your own, think pen name. Then you respond with helpful comments, and you sign with your name and a small unobtrusive link to your website in your resource box or signature.
Now you haven’t broken any trust rules, you’ve added value and maybe someone will want to see what else you have to offer. Plus… your resource link will be picked up by spiders when the blog is indexed.
Getting a community of people to follow you and refer others to you is gonna benefit you much more in the end than trying to trick the search engines
